TIDEPOOL SCIENTIFIC SOFTWARE

Since 1992, Tidepool Scientific Software has been committed to developing and publishing biostatistical software specifically targeted toward the environmental toxicology community. Prior to the formation of the company, environmental toxicologists were faced with increasing statistical demands and woefully deficient or non-existent software. Initially, it was decided to develop a spreadsheet based application named ToxCalc, since most laboratories used spreadsheets such as Excel for other purposes. ToxCalc went on to become the best selling software of its kind with over 500 registered users.

Starting in the year 2000, development efforts for a brand new application, named the Comprehensive Environmental Toxicity Information System™, began in earnest. At the time, Randall Marshall of the Washington State Dept. of Ecology, argued that states charged with managing large scale Whole Effluent Toxicity programs for NPDES testing required an application that could not only calculate statistics and store data, but could also conduct WET review and facilitate electronic transfer of data.

What began as a new relational database application subsequently matured into the most capable and feature rich application ever written specifically for environmental toxicology. Toxicologists were now finally able to fully implement statistical guidelines that previously were impossible to comply with due to the lack of suitable software. And states could now efficiently and effectively manage their WET programs like never before. Over the years, countless studies and publications have referenced either ToxCalc or CETIS, and customer satisfaction and commitment remains high.

We provide occasional workshops covering various aspects of CETIS, as well as private trainings tailored to the client's needs. Please inquire about either workshops or trainings.
